Solar Lanterns

Solar-powered gear and camping seem to go hand in hand. And it makes sense…you’re already outside for the bulk of your adventuring and the sun is likely shining unless you’re into that rainy weather camping.

When I was looking for a solar lantern I was looking for something compact so that I could also use it around the house as an emergency light for power outages or for going up into my “apparently one dim lightbulb will do” attic. Basically, I wanted a multitasker.

I narrowed my choice down to these three:

LuminAID Solar Inflatable Lantern

No Plan B for Earth Solar Lantern

Kizen Solar Powered LED Camping Lantern

But the one I ended up with is the Kizen Solar Powered LED Camping Lantern. It’s not the flashiest…no pun intended (though it does have a flash setting) but it’s the best bang for your buck.

I suppose the main thing that I like about this particular model is that it’s a great all-around light source…not just limited to camping. It’s also inexpensive enough to pick up half a dozen of these things and stash them in potentially needed places, under the bathroom sink, out in the garage, the trunk of your car, or out in the shed.
